Abstract

The XMASS experiment aims to detect dark matter, pp and 7Be solar neutrinos, and neutrinoless double beta decay using highly purified liquid xenon located underground in the Kamioka Observatory in Japan. Construction of the detector was completed in September 2010 and data-taking started in December 2010. This paper discusses the design of the XMASS data acquisition system and its capabilities.
