Abstract

This report presents a study about the current situation of women physicists in Albania, including achievements, problems, work done by the Women in Physics Group in Albania, peculiarity of the country, and plans and projects for the future. Also presented are some statistical data illustrating the present situation. Besides the difficulties, the number of women physicists in Albania who want to have careers in physics is increasing. Research and careers in physics in Albania are mainly concentrated in five institutions: the University of Tirana, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Department of Physics; the Institute of Applied Nuclear Physics, University of Tirana; the Faculty of Mathematical Engineering and Physics Engineering, Polytechnic University of Tirana; General Directorate of Metrology; and University Ismail Qemali, Vlora.
