Abstract

Chylous fistula is a common complication after pancreatectomy, which can cause poor prognosis of patients. The special anatomic position of the pancreas, the invasive capacity of the disease as well as the improper postoperative diet are all the critical factors leading to the occurrence of chylous fistula. International Study Group of Pancreatic Surgery (ISGPS) recently published the definition and classification of the pancreatic postoperative chylous fistula, providing a guideline for its treatment and prevention. However, surgeons should develop more researches in order to reduce the incidence of postoperative chylous fistula. This paper summarizes the current research status of pancreatic postoperative chylous fistula. Key words: Chylous fistula; Pancreaticoduodenectomy; Distal pancreatectomy; Nutrition support
