Abstract

Abstract Water culture has played an important dynamic role in water management historically, and it remains highly valuable for water management and water sustainability today. Water management was influenced by water related value, ethics, knowledge, norms, social behavior, institutions, etc. The role of water culture in water management could be played out from the local to the national scale. As well as using traditional water culture, it is valuable to encourage water culture dynamics in the water management process. Water culture can be used in policy making, capacity building, social awareness establishment, behavior fostering, engineering construction, etc. Simultaneously, it needs to stimulate more new water cultural elements to meet the demands of water management. This chapter aims to discuss the cultural dynamic mechanism in water management, practical demonstrations of water culture in current water management and how to foster new water culture for sustainable water management.
