Abstract

Abstract The crystal structure of decyl-α-D-lyxopyranoside (1) and dodecyl α-D-lyxopyranoside (2) has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Both compounds crystallise in the orthorhombic crystal system with space group P212121. The molecules of both compounds are connected through O–H⋯O hydrogen bonds into 2-D supramolecular frameworks. The Hirshfeld surface analysis has been made for both compounds. The NMR experimental data, together with DFT analysis of structure and spin-spin coupling constants, showed that the pyranose ring forms in solution and in the solid state of are comparable one another. Furthermore, α-D-lyxopyranoside rings in both studied compounds prefer the 4C1 forms regardless the aliphatic chain length and the presence of the solvent.
