The Crystal and Molecular Structure of (BEDT-TTF)4(Hg2Br6)(1,1,2-Trichloroethane)

Abstract

Abstract The synthesis, elcctrocrystallization, and crystal structure of the organic conductor (BEDT-TTF)4(Hg2Br6)(TCE) (BEDT-TTF = bis(ethylene- dithio)tetrathiafulvalene; TCE = 1,1,2-trichloroethane) are reported. The crystal structure contains layers of two stacks per unit cell of BEDT-TTF donor molecules. Within the stacks, eight donor units are found per unit cell. The anion consists of a dimeric species formed by two edge-sharing distorted [HgBr4] tetrahedra.
