Abstract
The method of measuring cross-sections of the Raman effect of light in single crystals and powders is elaborated. The cross-sections are measured in stilbene, benzene, NaClO3, GaP, CdS and other crystals under the excitation by different light sources. The temperature dependence of cross-sections is studied, and in GaP a sharp increase in the cross-section is detected with the increase of temperature. The cross-sections in stilbene and benzene are found to increase at the transition from liquid to crystal. The theoretical interpretation of the results obtained is given.
