Abstract: T. S. Eliot's sexual and spiritual development is interconnected with his poetry and quest for a holistic philosophy shaped by Christian theology. Using the mystical-erotic dialectic as a poetic, "Mr. Eliot's Sunday Morning Service," "Little Gidding," and "How the Tall Girls Breasts Are" are analyzed to demonstrate his evolution from conflicted materialist to ascetic oblate to sacramental participant. This final movement was catalyzed by and can be read through the Orthodox doctrine of theosis that authorizes mystical-erotic integration. Concluding with a comparative analysis with Song of Songs, this study seeks to raise critical awareness and appreciation of Eliot's erotic poetry.
