Abstract

AbstractA new way of estimating the critical pair‐breaking current is developed. The superconducting charge carriers are considered as quantized vortex‐like objects, characterized by Γ — the vortex strength, Γ = h/2m. Taking into account that the charge carriers are confined in the CuO planes, and applying the von Karman theory for vortex streets in high‐temperature superconductors, the critical velocity vc and the critical pair‐breaking current Jc are derived. The results are in good agreement with the experimental data.
