Abstract

We performed a high statistics numerical simulation of the three state Potts model in presence of an external field, Nucl. Phys. B one of the possible states [M. Bernaschi, The critical behaviour of the Potts model in a penalizing external field, Nucl. Phys. B (Proc. Suppl.) 20 (1991) 674]. The value of the thermal critical exponent, that we have evaluated by means of the finite size real space renormalization group (FSRSRG) technique, indicates that such a model has a non-trivial critical behaviour. For validation purposes results concerning both (standard) Potts and Ising models are also presented.
