Abstract
In “The Crisis Interregnum: From the New Right-wing Populism to the Occupy Movement,” Ingar Solty presents seven theses on the political articulation of the global crisis. Following Gramsci, he argues that we are in a period of interregnum: the old hegemonic bloc has unravelled, but a new one has yet to be established. From the collapse of a “Green New Deal” to the various machinations of the Tea Party, Solty argues that tensions and divisions on the Right have persistently blocked resolution to the crisis. He concludes with thoughts on the Occupy movement and the ways in which its own divisions and contradictions reflect those afflicting the broader Left.
