Abstract
In preparation for our Annual General Meeting (AGM), the CUA central office has been working hard to make this meeting successful. We continue to make significant improvements in the administration and running of the CUA. As you all realize, we have had a dramatic increase in the workload for the CUA, and the staff at the central office in Montreal has been excellent. Without their support, this work could not be accomplished. Financially speaking, our expenses continue to go up, but costs are being retrieved in several ways through the Office of Education and through the improved coordination and efforts of our patron sponsors and exhibitors at our AGM. Furthermore, we are currently entering a new phase of our contract negotiations with the SIU. We are looking to become full partners with the SIU. We look forward to a new relationship with the SIU. A continuing source of pride for the CUA is our journal. If you are reading this article, you have certainly seen the improvement in the journal. We are proud to own and operate the journal, with the efforts of our Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Laurence Klotz, and our Managing Editor, Josephine Sciortino. They, along with the editorial and publishing support of the Canadian Medical Association, have produced a product to be very proud of. Continue to support the journal and submit your manuscripts — case reports, review articles and research reports. Those of us in Edmonton are very excited about the upcoming meeting. The planning is coming along extremely well, and we are very excited about the scientific portion, the video sessions and the live surgery. We have a tremendous collection of guest speakers, and I am sure you will be thrilled with the academic portion of the meeting. In addition to the scientific side, we also have a very impressive social program organized by Mike and Bonnie Chetner. We look forward to your arrival! However, before we get to Edmonton, I hope to see you all at the CUA reception at the AUA meeting in Orlando, Florida, on the Monday night of the meeting (Monday, May 19, 2008). All CUA members should have received their invitation in the mail. If you have not received one but would still like to attend the reception, please contact me directly at gro.auc@tnediserp. See you soon!
