Abstract

Objective To explore the correlation between self-efficacy and life quality in aged patients from rural area of Xiamen with hypertension. Methods A total of 160 aged patients with hypertension were recruited and investigated with general questionnaire, SF-36 Self-efficacy Assessment Scale for Hypertensive. Results The mean scores of self-efficacy and life quality were both at the middle level.The overall score of self-efficacy was higher than that of the self-efficacy and poor self-efficacy, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01). Correlation showed that the level of self-efficacy was closely related to the quality of existence(P<0.01). The three dimensions of drug therapy, health behavior and daily life were closely related to the quality of life, especially daily life and drug therapy(P<0.01). Conclusion Enhancing the level of self-efficacy can effectively improve patients' quality of life.To improve their self-efficacy, it is necessary to strengthen the support and intervention of community health workers, especially in the aspects of drug therapy, healthy behaviors and daily life.
