Abstract

Objective To examine whether there is any correlation between the angles of A2-ACoA of anterior communicating artery complex visualized by 3D-DSA and the initiation of anterior communicating artery aneurysms. Methods A retrospective study was conducted in 31 patients with suspected aneurysms of internal carotid artery system. The patients were presented at our department from August 2009 to December 2011.Of the 31 patients,15 anterior cerebral artery aneurysms were found and served as the observation group.16 other subjects served as the control group.3D-DSA images of all these patients were studied. The A2-ACoA angles of two groups were compared and analyzed statistically using SPSS 11.5.Results The average A2-ACoA angle in observation group is determined to be 140.5 ± 19.76 degrees, but in the control group it is 114.7 ± 16.73 degrees. There is statistically difference between the two groups. Conclusions There is correlation between the A2-ACoA angle of anterior cerebral artery complex and the initiation of anterior communicating artery aneurysm.Patients with larger A2-ACoA angle may be apt to suffer from anterior communicating aneurysm.
