Abstract
In order to deeply analyze the microcosmic characteristics of the correlation structure between China’s defense expenditure and economic growth, the Copula theory and Binary Empirical Mode Decomposition (BEMD) algorithm are used to explore the correlation between defense expenditure and economic growth from the whole and microcosmic aspects respectively in this paper. The annual data of China’s defense expenditure and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from 1952 to 2020 is taken as the research object to analyze empirically. The results show that there is a nonlinear and asymmetric time-varying correlation between defense expenditure and economic growth to a great extent.
