Abstract

Objective To assess the main influencing factors of patients' life quality through explore the correlation among insomnia severity, depression symptom and quality of life (QOL) in patients with chronic insomnia. Methods A total of 126 patients diagnosed with chronic insomnia were included.The patinets were divided into sub-clinical group, moderate insomnia group and serious insomnia group according to the score of Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) . The Beck Depression Inventory (BDI)was used to evaluate the depression symptom and the Medical Outcomes Study Short Form-36 (SF-36) was used to evaluate the quality of life. Results Patients with severe insomnia and depression symptom had lower SF-36(except the body pain) scores.The ISI scores had negative correlation with SF-36 scores(except the body pain)(P<0.05). The BDI scores had negative correlation with SF-36 scores(P<0.01). After controlled for BDI scores, ISI scores had negative correlation with SF-36 scores in RF, RP, GH, VT and physical well-being (P<0.05). After controlled for ISI scores, BDI scores had negative correlation with SF-36 scores in RP, GH, VT, SF, RE, MH and mental and physical well-being (P<0.01). Conclusion Depression symptom and insomnia severity have significantly negative affect on QOL and depression symptom has more negative impacts on QOL of patients with chronic insomnia.
