Abstract

ABSTRACT Well-designed laboratory and clinical research using modern technology has greatly promoted our understanding of coronary circulation in health and disease. Dr Marvin L. Marcus and his associates are credited with valuable contributions to this surge of new knowledge in coronary circulation. In The Coronary Circulation in Health and Disease, Dr Marcus has masterfully compiled a comprehensive and richly informative presentation of the current state of knowledge of this important subject.The author's primary emphasis is on pathophysiological mechanisms through which a variety of diseases can alter the normal blood supply and metabolism of the myocardium. To this end, he devotes several chapters to detailed information on anatomy of the coronary vasculature, coronary blood flow measurements, and metabolic, neural, myogenic, and hormonal regulation of coronary circulation.
