Abstract
The Coptic translations of the Old and New Testaments are well known as important witnesses for the textual history of the Christian Bible. As for the Book of Sirach, we possess only two Sahidic codices which transmit the Book of Sirach together nearly completely, although they themselves have lacunae in many passages of the text, and a number of fragmentary manuscripts. Certain verses are present in very late liturgical manuscripts (Lectionaries) for the Holy Week and as citations, for example, in the hagiographic literature. These are presented in this chapter after an overview of the extant manuscripts of the different Coptic dialects. Only few can be said about the position of the Coptic version of the Book of Sirach within the textual history of the Septuagint. But this concerns the Coptic version of the LXX in general.
