Abstract
Reaction of the N,N,O-terdentate ligands 6-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-2,2′-bipyridine (HL 1) and 2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-1,10-phenanthroline (HL 2) with Na 2PdCl 4·3H 2O afforded the complexes [PdL 1Cl] and [PdL 2Cl]; the crystal structure of [PdL 1Cl]·(CH 2Cl 2) shows it to be a square-planar monomer with extensive intramolecular π-stacking interactions involving the aromatic ligands.
