Abstract
The origin of anomalies in the temperature dependence of the paramagnetic susceptibility induced by the cooperative Jahn-Teller effect has been explained in terms of a simple phenomenological approach. The relations for the anisotropic susceptibility of singlet-doublet system, due to the occurence of CJTE have been derived in the molecular field approximation using quadrupolar interactions formalism.
