Abstract

Cooling rate is the key parameter for characterizing the formation ability of amorphous ribbon, but measured by experimental method is difficulty, to this end, combined heat transfer and solidification theory, applied one-dimensional Fourier heat conduction equations simplified heat transfer model, obtained the temperature and cooling rate distribution of amorphous ribbon in forming process, Then applied CFD method simulated the PFC process as time, obtained puddle length and cooling rate in steady state. Through comparative analysis, the temperature and cooling rate distribution by above two methods agreed well, verified the feasibility and accuracy of simplified heat transfer model used in amorphous ribbon cooling rate calculation; Meanwhile analyzed the cooling roller wall temperature and ribbon thickness effect on cooling rate of melt. The result laid theoretical foundation for evaluating the amorphous quality of the ribbon, also provided reference for optimization of process parameters.
