Abstract

General formulae are derived for the interferometric COIN (Coherence Observation by Interference Noise) signal in the limit of finite width pulses. Gaussian and exponential forms of the pulses have been used in the numerical calculations of the COIN observable. Qualitative agreement with experiment is found for the form of the COIN signal. As compared to previous studies using the δ-function form of the pulses unexpected sensitivity of the evaluated variance to the pulse-width, T 2-relaxation, and detuning is found.
