Abstract

A device for the precise compensation of the reactive power of an electric locomotive is considered. The device is designed based on a passive compensator, a boosting transformer and a self-commutated voltage inverter. The simulation of various locomotive operation modes proved the high efficiency of the suggested compensator design.
