Abstract

The charging control strategy for the novel integrated motor-drive and battery-charging (IMB) system based on the split-field-winding doubly salient electromagnetic machine(DSEM) is proposed in this paper, the cascade inverter with the front-end DC/DC converter and rear-end inverter is employed for the IMB system, and the field windings of DSEM are integrated as the filter inductance of DC/DC converter. Since the three-phase windings of DSEM are also adopted as the filter inductance of the rear-end inverter, which is working in the three-phase PWM rectifier mode, the battery charging control method of output DC bus voltage and field winding currents based on the constant voltage control strategy of PWM rectifier is given for the front-end DC/DC converter. In the charging mode, the output torque characteristics of DSEM with respect to the mutual inductance and rotor position are analyzed in detail by the simulation model, and experiment platform is also built to verify the steady and dynamic performance of the IMB system with the proposed charging control strategy.
