Dado que muchos de los monasterios particulares serían donados por su fundador o sus descendientes a alguno de los grandes establecimientos religiosos de la región, como el monasterio de Sahagún, aparece también como un problema a resolver descifrar las diversas implicancias que tuvieron estas transferencias para las parentelas donantes, lo cual supone, en última instancia, preguntarse si la donación de los monasterios familiares significó una desvinculación real de la parentela respecto a los mismos
