The Political QuarterlyVolume 61, Issue 1 p. 8-22 THE CONTROL OF COST PUSH HENRY PHELPS BROWN, HENRY PHELPS BROWN Professor Sir Henry Phelps Brown was Professor of the Economics of Labour at the London School of Economics and Political Science, 1947–68 He has been a member of the Council on Prices, Productivity and Income (1959), the National Economic Development Council (1962), and the Royal Commission on the Distribution of Income and Wealth(1974–78). His work include The Growth of British Industrial Relations (1959), The Economics of Labour (1963), A Century of Pay (1968). The Inequality of Pay (1977), The Origins of Trade Union Power (1983), and Egalitarianism and the Generation of Inequality (1988).
