Abstract

KSTAR's NBI System is a device designed to direct high-energy neutral beam injection into a tokamak plasma in order to raise the temperature of the plasma. KSTAR's NBI System is comprised of a power supply that accelerates and withdraws deuterium ion beams and a power supply that generates an ion supply plasma. It also employs a filament power supply that supplies the power needed to heat up the filament attached to the arc plasma cathode and an arc power supply that maintains the arc plasma. This study regards the NBI device arc power supply. The design of the arc power supply uses a three-phase diode rectifier, an LC filter, and a parallel buck converter. The arc power supply's performance was verified through performing simulations and implementing the design on a 2.4kW test stand.
