Abstract
With the upsurge of interest in community work in Britain in the late 1960s and early 1970s, numbers of community work positions have been created in organisations where supervisory and managerial staff have little knowledge of the practice or problems of this field. In consequence experienced community workers from other fields and community work teachers are increasingly being asked for help and advice as consultants both for the community worker and for his agency.
