Abstract

Emotional intelligence is a construct that is interpreted in many ways. The differing models like mixed, ability, trait and information processing connote different meanings to researchers and practitioners. While each model has its own evidences to support, non-supporting evidences claims make the field of emotional intelligence a hazy and stormy one. It is in this context that the information processing model is used as an integrated process model. In this integrated process model, the emergence of emotional intelligence is built upon the mixed, ability and trait models which differently interpret intelligence.
