Abstract

The Conservation Laboratory of the Tamil Nadu Government Museum, Madras, was established in 1930 and enlarged in 1937. Additional premises were opened in 1963. The history, laboratory facilities and various activities are described. The work of the laboratory has been published in various periodicals. The Conservation Laboratory is expected to develop as an important centre for the conservation of cultural property in South India.
