Abstract

The connective tissue in the middle ear mucosa is thickest in the bulla where it can be divided into three zones, a dense subepithelial zone, a middle loose connective tissue zone with a lymphatic plexus and the periosteum. The mucosa in the rest of the middle ear is thin. The distribution of fibers, cells and capillaries is described.
