Abstract
Seven conformations of the neurotransmitter p-methoxyphenylethylamine have been observed in a supersonic jet using molecular beam Fourier transform microwave spectroscopy (MB-FTMW). The 14N nuclear quadrupole coupling hyperfine structure has been resolved for all conformers. The comparison between the experimental and ab initio data, especially the quadrupole coupling constants, has provided a conclusive test for the identification of all observed conformers.
