Abstract
The conductivity (σ) improvement of (LiBr) 0.5 (montmorillonite K-10) 0.5 superionic conductor materials with g-rays irradiation and ionic diffusion process has been done. Synthesis of the specimen was done with solid state reaction of materials mixture of LiBr and montmorillonite K-10, then followed by sintering at 600 °C for 2 hours. The γ–rays irradiation process was conducted with dose of 100, 150, 250, 400 kGy, followed with a ionic diffusion process at DC electric voltage of 1 volt for 4 hours. The phase identification inside the specimen was carried out by using X-ray diffraction (XRD) methode. The conductivity change of the specimen was measured by means of LCR-meter at the frequency of 0.1 Hz - 100 kHz. The result shows that in the (LiBr) 0.5 (montmorillonite K-10) 0.5 materials before γ-rays irradiation observed aluminum silicate hydrate, Al 2 Si 4 O 10 (OH) 2 and LiBr (111) phases. After γ-rays irradiation, the σ ionic increases by increasing irradiation dose to 250 kGy, and then increased again after ionic diffusion process. The optimum conductivity improvement of (LiBr) 0.5 (montmorillonite K-10) 0.5 materials was obtained at dose of 250 kGy. Keywords: Super ionic conductor, Conductivity, Diffusion, γ-rays irradiation.
