Abstract

The principal products formed in the condensations of urea with acetone, mesityl oxide, and phorone have been shown to possess the structures (4), (6), (7), and (11). The condensation of urea with mesityl oxide, which had previously been performed so as to give mainly (7), has been modified so as to give (4) readily and in good yield. Evidence is presented which makes knowledge of the course of these condensations more precise. A triuret derivative (14) of triacetonamine has been prepared, as well as products (5) and (12) from the hydrogenation of (4) and (6).
