Abstract

This article discusses the concept of remission as a transition to health for people with a diagnosis of schizophrenia: it is defined as a stage in which the service user's symptoms are reduced significantly over a period of time. The author describes a newly adapted remission criteria scale that could be used as a tool for practitioners to demonstrate progress objectively, and give service users hope as they move towards acceptance back into society.
