Abstract
The article analyzes and summarizes the points of view of domestic scientists regarding the understanding of the essence of the category of pension. Special attention is paid to the study of the legislative defi nition of pension. It is concluded that it is necessary to rethink the theoretical achievements of the sectoral sc ience of social security law. The author defi nes the defi nition of a pension.
