Abstract

The paper looks at the concept of a New Integrated Maritime Data Communication System based on the synthesis of multisensory mechanical-navigation signals and information. Problems with processing of safety, quickly and correctly manoeuvring decisions by ship Deck Officers associated with continuous receipt of too much information provided to the ship navigation bridge are analysed. It pointed to the need to take into account in the decision-making process the management of the vessel, not only data of a navigational nature but also data of a mechanical nature. An analysis of today’s integrated navigation bridge systems on ships was carried out, indicating the weaknesses of the existing solutions. There are systems already integrating signals from multisensor sources. However, they are based on the use of navigation signals only. Based on the analysis, it was concluded that existing systems could lead to the generation of erroneous and incomplete navigational decisions resulting in maritime accidents. An algorithm of The Fusion Data Processing System with Integrated Multisensory Module was proposed to take into account in the decision-making process the missing signals generated from marine mechanical devices having a direct impact on the ship’s movement track. It is new to propose the use of ANN methods to develop rapid decisions. An example of algorithm with the results of numerical studies of signal fusion from various sensors generating input information to the vessel positioning navigation system is presented.
