Abstract
The authors tried to defi ne the concept and content of the operational-investigative characteristics of illegal consump-tion and traffi cking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and their precursors. In the work, the author used methods of system analysis and synthesis, which made it possible to determine the key concepts used in the work. The statistical method helped to determine the relevance of the topic under consideration. The conclusions were obtained using the analysis of docu-ments and the method of expert evaluation. Based on the study of regulatory legal acts and the positions of scientists, the content of the operational and investigative characteristics of drug traffi cking has been determined. It is established that in the theory of operational-investigative activity, the operational-investigative characteristic occupies an independent place and is aimed at preventing the commission of crimes (including in the fi eld of drug traffi cking).
