Abstract

A novel approach to the calculation of the extinction cross sections of resonant metallic nanoparticles subject to optical radiation is presented. This approach is based on the boundary integral equation technique and makes extensive use of the optical theorem. A good agreement between the computational results for the extinction cross sections of spherical metallic nanoparticles and the Mie theory as well as with available experimental data is demonstrated
