Abstract
The Kittelfjall peridotite located in the Eastern Belt of the Seve Complex ( Zwart 1974 ) has been involved in four deformation events under low-medium grade amphibolite facies metamorphism. A progression of olivine microtextures related to the two oldest deformation events is observed: a) large olivine porphyroclasts, kinked and showing a strong planar–plano-linear fabric surrounded by fine grained foam textured olivines, b) various mortar textures related to local shear zone development. The last two deformation events affected mainly the rim of the peridotite. Dislocation substructures indicating high energy deformation environments have been found in both types of microtexture (Boland & Buiskool Toxopeus 1974) and it is suggested that these reflect only the last deformation event.
