Abstract

Dendrobium pendulum Roxb. (Orchidaceae) is an endangered ornamental plant. We report here the complete chloroplast (cp) genome sequence of D. pendulum. D. pendulum is 153,248 bp in length. The complete cp genome sequence has a typical quadripartite structure, comprising a pair of inverted repeat (IR) regions of 26,398 bp, a large single-copy (LSC) region of 85,852 bp and a small single-copy (SSC) region of 14,600 bp. The chloroplast genome contains 131 genes (124 unique), including 78 protein-coding genes, 8 ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes and 38 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes. The overall GC content of the whole genome is 37.5%. The phylogenetic analysis suggested that the D. pendulum is mostly related taxa with Dendrobium officinale which forms a sister group to the Dendrobium.
