Abstract

OBJECTIVE: Ovarian follicle development is a complex process. Bidirectional traffic between follicular cells (FC) is very important to achieve developmental competence of the oocyte. In fact, molecular biomarkers of cumulus cells (CCs) and granulosa cells (GCs) are potentially reliable predictors of oocyte competence and embryo quality. The aim of this study was to identify novel biomarkers for oocyte competence by comparing the gene expression profile of human CCs versus GCs under in vitro fertilization (IVF) conditions.
