Abstract

Objective To compare the clinical effects between lumber discectomy (LD) and LD with implanting interspinous nonfusion dynamic internal fixation (Coflex system) in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation (LDH).Methods From Junuary 2009 to December 2011,a total of 74 patients with lumber disc herniation were treated. The group A were treated by LD,it includes 53 patients, the time of follow-up is (21.9 ± 12.6) months. The group B were treated by LD with Coflex system,it includes 21 patients, the time of follow-up is (13.0 ± 9.7 ) months.Clinical effects were compared by Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) before and after operation. Results JOA indexes of before and 3 months after surgery of group A ( 13.3 ± 1.2,19.0 ± 1.1 ) and group B ( 13.0 ± 1.2,19.4 ± 1.3 ) had no statistical value (P>0.05).JOA indexes of 12 months and 24 months after surgery of group A (21.9 ± 1.2,24.2 ± 0.9) and group B (25.1 ± 0.8,27.0 ± 1.0) had statistical value ( P < 0.05 ).Conclusion LD with Coflex system is better than LD in JOA and later clinical effects. The former is better for patients. Key words: Lumber disc herniation; Interspinous dynamic nonfusion internal fixation; Coflex; Lumber discectomy
