Abstract

AbstractStimulation of either the medial or lateral giant axons in the crayfish (Cherax destructor; Decapoda: Astacura) CNS was found to activate the common inhibitor neuron reliably in each of the pereiopods. This property was used to study the extent of the common inhibitory innervation of the leg muscles, including the muscles of the coxa, basis, and ischium. The common inhibitor was found to innervate all of the muscles of the pereiopod.
