Abstract
God gave Moses the Decalogue (The Ten Commandments) in the Sinai or Horep (Exodus 20:1-17; Leviticus 19; Deuteronomy 5:6-21) and salvation to all before Jesus. Jesus summarized the Decalogue into two (Matthew 21:34-40, Mark 12:28-31 and Luke 10:25-37). St. Augustine of Hippo based on the Decalogue and the Two Greatest Commandment initiated Common Good (CG) as the cornerstone of ethics but St. Thomas Aquinas integrated justice, virtues, directing the practice of the “Love Thy Neighbour” Commandment constituting the “CG” in business paving the foundations of The Catholic Magisterium. This article attempts to ask and answers three questions. Firstly, what happened to the CG since then to now? Secondly, what is the state of the CG practised in business, veil (supplantation) or not veiled? Thirdly, can the current literatures in ethics be integrated into the Common Good i.e. can the Common Good serves as the basis of business ethics?
