Abstract

Researchers and service providers have ignored the role of unwed fathers in teenage pregnancy experiences. This article reports on a study of black adolescent fathers and mothers to assess the quality of their commitment and concerns as couples. The examination of both partners calls into question several race-linked assumptions about the sexual morality of black teenagers, their attitudes, and their concerns.
