Abstract

The history of book publishing in Nigeria is outlined and the different kinds of publishing houses are reviewed. The quality of book indexing by these publishers is reviewed and a study is reported which examines in detail the indexing practices of the publishers in relation to internationally accepted criteria. The results show a generally high standard.
