Abstract

In this paper, we report on the influences of gain non-uniformity, Lyot filter effect and transmission spectrum of the passive fiber components on the spectral profile of a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM)-based ytterbium (Yb)-doped mode-locked fiber laser. Simulation and experimental results prove that the adjustment of the Lyot filter will be an effective way to control the output spectrum during the actual application and manufacture of the mode-lock fiber laser.
