Research Article| March 01 2001 The Color of Violence: Violence Against Women of Color Andrea Smith Andrea Smith andrea smith (Cherokee) was the conference coordinator of the Color of Violence: Violence against Women of Color conference. She is a co-founder of the Chicago chapter of Women of All Red Nations, the former Women of Color caucus chair of the National Coalition against Sexual Assault. She is part of Critical Resistance: Beyond the Prison Industrial Complex, author of several articles on Native women and violence, and is currently finishing her Ph.D. at U.C. Santa Cruz in History of Consciousness.
