Abstract

ROPAGANDA is not a recent development in the history of mankind. It is doubtless as ancient as the human race. Men have always had special objects that they schemed to achieve in society, whether the preservation of the status quo or the establishment of changes in the political and social order. Whatever the end sought, the procedure adopted to insure acquiescence or support involved methods which to-day would be termed propaganda. The bas-reliefs of the temple of Karnak and those of Angkor Vat, though separated by thousands of miles and centuries of time, attest equally the skill attained in the art of pictorial propaganda by former civilizations.
